In 2010 I went to the ‘Red hair day’ in Breda, NL. It’s no big secret that I find red haired, gingerheads very intriguing. Don’t ask me why, but it’s not hard to accept the fact that this golden hair makes them very photo-worthy. Judging by the number of photographers running at that event, I’m sure not alone. The huge number of photographers made me reflect for a while, but the awesome and very atmosphere at the event made a deep impression on me. It was only half a year later that I decided to get the Ginger Project started. The plan: make portraits from ginger heads I encounter on the streets, natural light, coincidental encounters and models willing to pose for a few seconds. No obligation, no light-setup. Just the capture, in ginger.
